The generalist nature of the training leads to a broad thematic base and a large number of laboratories involved in the training. However, the link to research goes far beyond the Lyon context: the possibility of inviting foreign researchers to participate in the program, the possibility of spending a semester in another university in France or abroad (at the M1 or M2 level), and the possibility of doing research internships abroad all contribute to a link to research that goes beyond the local context. In general, students do their L3 internship (8 weeks) in France and their M1 internship (12 weeks) abroad. There is no general rule for the M2, since students choose according to their desires, past experience, and opportunities to pursue a thesis.
The Long Research Project is an opportunity for international mobility. It can be conducted during the third or fourth year of the ENS diploma.
Below are some examples of places where our students can go abroad. Examples of research laboratories, located in France, involved in the training are also given.
